Cincinnati Flower Show 2016

The Munich Sister City participated in the Cincinnati Flower Show. The photos speak for themselves.

It was another great event.  Not only did we welcome the Munich Park Board Delegation who designed and installed a unique and gorgeous "Square Garden" and won 2 Gold medals for their efforts one from the Cincinnati Horticultural Association and one from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Association. The Cincinnati Flower Show is the only Flower show in the US which is recognized by the English Chelsea Horticultural Society.

Thanks to the Enzian Dancers, Pete Wagner's musicians and the Germania Fasching's Princess Anita and Prince Mike with their "Court"of 6 Dancers. It was a fun evening with superb entertainment - the highlight was definitely when German Consul General Herbert Quelle joined the Pete Wagner Musicians by playing his Harmonica excellently. And yes we had great food. The "International Soirée"  was also sheer fun.  Photos attached. Special thanks to JW Fleckenstein, Marsha Haberer, Kevin O'Dell, Dale Kabbes and last but not least Amy Murray. Thank you to Jan and Gerald Checco for hosting. Thanks to our guests for the grand job you did. Come back soon!

The Flower Show is a Cincinnati treasure. When you go through all the creative and colorful displays you cannot help but smile. I have volunteered there every year except the first year which was 26 years ago and I can only recommend it.
We have been very privileged to have the City of Munich send a delegation from their Park Board. They are all very skilled and talented.

A Huge Thank you to AMIG American Modern Insurance Group and Kevin Barber for sponsoring the Entertainment for "An Evening in Munich". Thank you also for attending.

Many thanks to the BMW Store for all your support. Many thanks also to Hofbraeuhaus for the gorgeous basket for the raffle and also Daisy Mae's at Findlay Market for their wonderful basket. The food tours of Findlay market are very popular and are done by Barbara at Daisy Mae's.

Last but not least:
Our dear Friend Ed Adams who started the Sister Cities in Cincinnati and was the first Chair for the Umbrella Organization was specially honored and recognized for all the work and promotion he has done to intensify the relationship between Munich and Cincinnati since the 70’s and presented a special award as “Friend of Germany”  by the German Consul General Quelle.  Ed and his wife were “Guests of Honor” for the evening.
