Students in Munich
  • Each Cincinnati Student is partnered with a Munich Student for the exchange year.
  • The exchange is four weeks in length: Two weeks spent in Cincinnati in the spring and two weeks in Munich in the summer.
  • Students live with one another’s families during each part of the exchange.
  • Students attend school with their host student and participate in many travel and cultural activities in both cities.
  • Exchange students must speak English.
  • Remember: Cincinnati students do not have to speak German as most German high school students are fluent in English.
Benefits for a lifetime....
  • Because students stay in their partner’s home, they have an opportunity to communicate on a very personal level and allow for a broad understanding of the differences and similarities between our two cities, both educationally and culturally, resulting in relationships that last a lifetime.
  • Students say that they establish life-long friendships and benefit greatly from these educational, travel and cultural experiences that help them with their own school activities when they return.
In the words of previous participants...
This trip helped me understand that although we live on two different continents we are very much alike and share many of the same interests and desire.
      – Elder Graduate

I was honestly afraid to meet my partner at the airport – what kind of person would he be? Will he like me? How good will his English be? All those were erased in the first minutes. We were instant friends and our friendship continued to grow after that.
     – Elder Graduate

I learned that I can be independent of my parents and that opening myself to new customs and ideas is both enjoyable and beneficial.
    – Mariemont Junior

This was a life changing experience for me. Living in Munich with a family made me feel like I had always had a home in Munich

New experiences. New friends. New family

– Covington Latin Junior

I was afraid to leave my school and my friends in Cincinnati but I also knew I wanted to learn more about the rest of the world. So I took the leap and joined this exchange. I’m so glad I did. I now feel more mature and more able to make new friends. And I now have family and friends in Munich.
     – Indian Hill Senior
Don't miss this great opportunity to broaden your horizons, develop some independence, make new friendships, travel, and learn more about German language and culture.
