HISTORY
Since the 1990s the University of Cincinnati German department has offered an annual study abroad summer language and culture course on location in our sister city MUNICH. Since 2001 I have been working as the director and sole instructor of this program. Since 2009, due to its success and an increasing demand the program was expanded form a 3 week to a 5 week program offering up 15 college credit hour (now 10 due to semester conversion). This highlight this year has been our lunch at the Neue Rathaus with Munich s Mayor Monatszeder!

PURPOSE
The purpose of the program is to create cross-cultural awareness while becoming totally immersed into the target language which is a huge part of culture! We hope that this program will continue to grow in future years! To date the UC department of German Studies has not had any students enroll into its programs. However, we are sending our first German major, Christan Dietrich to study at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität this fall for one semester. We encourage other students to apply.

It is my goal to convince our department to encourage students from Munich to apply. Please email me or our department head Prof. Todd Herzog at Todd.Herzog@uc.edu. The cost is out of state tuition based.
Faculty and academic staff exchanges or visits are encouraged and should be arranged on an individual basis in close consultation with the academic deans.
